Department Overview

 

 

The ITS department serves the users of the multiple Cerner/KIDS/HRIS applications that have been installed at all the Children's service sites. The members of the PowerChart, Pharmacy, registration, orders, care coordination, radiology, D&RS, billing and scheduling teams work to provide 24-hour coverage for these patient-related applications. Other non-patient care systems include: PeopleSoft, Kronos, and Groupwise. They are involved in daily support and investigation into the future needs of our staff and patients. They investigate and test software, such as security access, and hardware, such as new wireless devices.

 


Position Summary

This role provides technical support and development of various clinical systems, with a focus on data integration technologies. Responsible for design, development, testing, documentation and support of interfaces for clinical and financial applications using interface engine technology. Coordinates interface project tasks with department users and application vendors. Responsible for coordination and support of our EMR system environments and related technical applications. Participates in design, development, testing, documentation and support of core EMR applications used across application groups. Responsible for data integration of various biomedical devices into the EMR. Responsible for development and support of various SFTP processes and other scripts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

License/Certification/Registration required? No

Education:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or related field.

Required Experience:
* 8+ years experience in development and support of applications and data integration platforms.
* 3+ years experience in hospital/clinic health care setting with an understanding of EMR workflow.

Preferred Experience:
* Experience with Cerner Millennium or other EMR.
* Experience with Orion Rhapsody or other interface engine.
* Experience with biomedical device integration.
* Experience with development of shell scripts in various languages.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Significant clinical integration, design and development experience.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to present ideas in user-friendly formats.
* Demonstrates advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrates knowledge of standard integration terminologies (e.g. HL7, X12, CCDA).
* Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
* Self-motivated with the ability to lead and follow.
* Able to give direction, follow up, and escalate issues as needed.
* Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines and milestones.
