Position Summary

The Chief Value Officer ("CVO") is responsible for the strategic direction and accomplishment of Children's Minnesota goals across the six domains of quality as defined by the Institute of Medicine with particular accountability for the following: Clinical Outcomes, Patient Safety, Health Equity, and Patient Experience. In a dyad partnership with the VP of Value, the CVO leads Children's Minnesota's Value & Clinical Excellence ("VCE") Department of centralized resources supporting continuous clinical and operational improvement across the organization. Responsibilities include informing and supporting the Quality Committee of the Governance Board.

The CVO is accountable for the coordination and implementation of Children's Minnesota overall quality infrastructure aligning with the organization's strategic goals and vision. This role will provide direction and leadership for clinical outcomes and quality performance on a system-level through a model of centralized expertise and local partnership within a continuous improvement culture. The CVO leads, directs, and develops a direct report team and creates a positive and engaging work environment that fosters respect, inclusivity and teamwork. This role requires a commitment to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization in service to patients/families of our community.

In this role, the CVO will leverage involvement in national networks to develop and advance internal capabilities. The VCE department governs the organization's Maintenance of Certification (MOC) sponsorship, supports accreditation responsibilities, and fosters adherence to state and national quality assurance regulations.

The CVO reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and matrix structure to Chief Operating Officer. While this role will office out of the Minneapolis hospital campus for proximity to clinical teams, regular travel to St Paul hospital campus and Children's Business Campus is expected. Hybrid remote work can be accommodated. Continued clinical practice is encouraged but not required.

License/Certification/Registration required? Yes
*Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Pediatrics or a Pediatric subspecialty
*Ability to obtain and hold a State of Minnesota Medical License
*Ability to hold professional staff privileges and credentialing at Children's Minnesota

Education:
*Medical Degree (MD) required
*Training or equivalent experience in quality improvement science and change management

Experience:
*10+years in relevant field (clinical practice, healthcare leadership, quality improvement)
*Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse, multidisciplinary team
*Demonstrated application of performance/quality improvement methodology and tools

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*Ability to recognize and quickly adapt to shifting priorities within a large healthcare system
