Department Overview

The Psychiatric and Psychological departments provide services on both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, with limited services at Woodwinds in Woodbury and Children's West in Minnetonka. Specific services include individual and family therapy, psychological assessment, neuropsychological assessment, and psychiatric evaluation and medication management (Available to children who are already patients of Children's mental health, pediatric, or subspecialty clinics.).


Position Summary

Functions within the psychiatric APRN scope of practice. Requests consultation where appropriate. Examples include, but are not limited to nurse practitioner practice in outpatient, short stay, emergency department, urgent care and inpatient settings.

License/Certification/Registration- Required:
*Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license AND
*Current Minnesota Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license

Education: Required: Successful completion of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner master's or doctor of nursing practice degree program (or meet the criteria for waiver of a master's degree) within the specialty area of Psychiatric Mental Health.

Certification Required:
* Current national certification with the (ANCC) American Nurse Credentialing Center
OR
* Current national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Experience:
* At least 500 hours of clinical experience within the last 36 months (may be fulfilled through graduate clinical hours AND
* Documentation of demonstrated expertise in the area of specialization within the last 5 years

Additional
Per Minnesota Statues 148.211, subdivision 1c, written evidence submitted to the Minnesota Board of Nursing of completion of 2,080 hours of advanced practice nurse practice under a collaborative agreement within a hospital or integrated clinical setting as described in above statute.
